  12. What is it ?

  15. PageType or PType is a type replacment that breaks the flow in to pages,
  16. hence the name.
  17.  
  18. Why ?

  21. Have you ever noticed how irritating it is to use 'type' on a
  22. reasonably big document, and just when you get to the part you want to
  23. check its gone. Sure you can stop the flow with the space, but it can
  24. sometimes be too late, whoops, 'type' it again.
  25. For those of you who use KingCon, you shouldnt have this trouble, because
  26. you can scroll through all of the CLI window with bars. However I have
  27. found that on my system KingCon seems to make the display a little corrupt,
  28. blue and orange bits here and there.
  29. So for those of you that want to simply look through a text file without
  30. using type or a text-editor/viewer seperate from the CLI environment,
  31. simply use ptype.

  36. Now most users will skip this bit, mainly because ptype's use is plain and
  37. simple. However those of you who do not know their mouse from a rat ;) here 
  38. we go.

  40. At the prompt type 'ptype'
  41.  
  42. 1. Workbench:> ptype 
  43.  
  44. Now input the file you want to view.
  45.  
  46. 1. Workbench:> ptype s:startup-sequence
  47.  
  48. Press <ENTER> and away it goes.
  49.  
  50. The text should pause at around a pages length and await a return.

  52. Bugs !
  53. ======

  55. I don't know of any real bugs, however there is a quirk that should be
  56. known.
  57. Due to the way PType is written it relies on the amount of lines on screen
  58. at once, and unfortunately this poses a small problem. Users that use a big
  59. screen resolution or an unusually small/large font, will find that the text
  60. stops too early or too late.
  61. I am afraid this shows how I've kind of cheated in the programming
  62. department, but rest assured, when/if I write a newer version coding will
  63. be better. In fact I could do it now, rather than use the amount of lines,
  64. the page is stopped when the cursor is a certain distance from the bottom
  65. of the screen.
